エペソ人への手紙 5章
Sing Praises to Our Lord and One Another
エペソ5章は、何度読んでも気づかなかった新しい発見があるものです。前半は愛のうちに歩む方法について、後半は結婚関係の聖書的な定義について語られています。
前半に戻ると、パウロはクリスチャンがいかに罪深い行為や恥ずべき行為を避けるべきかを繰り返し語っています。続いてパウロは、それらの行為の代わりに何をしなければならないかを語っています。
「ですから、愚かにならないで、主のみこころが何であるかを悟りなさい。また、ぶどう酒に酔ってはいけません。そこには放蕩があるからです。むしろ、御霊に満たされなさい。詩と賛美と霊の歌をもって互いに語り合い、主に向かって心から賛美し、歌いなさい。いつでも、すべてのことについて、私たちの主イエス・キリストの名によって、父である神に感謝しなさい。キリストを恐れて、互いに従い合いなさい。」（エペソ5：17-21, 新改訳2017）。
聖霊に満たされ、主の御心を心に抱き、クリスチャンソングを互いに歌い合うようにと、神の言葉は私たちに命じています。もちろん、私たちが歌うときの第一の焦点は神でなければなりません。しかし、私たちは互いに歌い合わなければなりません。歌うときは、感謝の心を持ち、互いに従わなければなりません。
これはいったいどういうことなのでしょうか。クリスチャンの主要な活動の1つは、神への賛美を歌うことです。私見ですが、神に賛美を捧げることが、私たちの重要な行為の一つだと思います。よく考えてみると、私たちが天国に入れば、人に伝道する必要はなくなるのです。しかし、天国に入ったら、私たちは永遠にイエスを賛美し続けることになるのです。
ですから、パウロは、この地上から神に賛美を捧げることも、クリスチャンの重要な行為であることを明確にしています。クリスチャンは、神に向かってお互いに歌わなければなりません。私たちが歌う歌の種類は、詩篇、賛美歌、霊的な歌です。これらの歌は、心の中に感謝を持ちながら歌わなければなりません。
また、キリストへの畏敬の念から、互いに服従しなければなりません。互いに従うということは、他の方の音楽の好みを尊重するいうことでもあります。はっきり言って、歌詞は別として、音楽が本質的に聖なるものであったり、悪であったりすることはないのです。音楽の好みは純粋に主観的なものです。ある特定のジャンルの音楽が、すべての人に一様に同じように影響を与えるわけではありません。例えば、ピアノの音色とともに歌う合唱団のサウンドは、ある人にとってはリラックスできるものでしょう。しかし、他の人にとっては、苦痛で身がすくむような音かもしれません。
互いに従うということは、他の人の霊的な歌を受け入れると同時に、私たちの歌も受け入れていただくということです。しかし、その歌がどんなものであれ、それが私たちの好みであろうとなかろうと、聖書は私たちに歌えと命じています。主を賛美せよ!!!
父なる神よ、今日の御言葉に感謝します。あなた、あなただけが、私たちの賛美に値します。私たちがあなたを賛美することを許してくださってありがとうございます。そして、私たちの主な目的は、あなたに賛美を捧げることであると、今日教えてくださってありがとうございます。
私たちが歌う歌が必ずしも好みではないとしても、私たちは感謝の心を持ち、とにかくあなたに向かって歌わなければならないことを思い出させてくれてありがとうございます。
父なる神さま、あなたの霊が私たちの中で御心の道を歩まれるようにしてください。私たちの音楽を好まない人たちが、その音楽を受け入れることができるようにしてください。そして父なる神さま、あなたの御霊が私の中に働いて、私も他の人の歌に感謝し、歌うことを学ぶことができるようにしてください。 ありがとうございます、お父さま。私たちはあなたを愛しています、お父さん。In Jesus’ Name we pray, amen!
A person can read the familiar verses in Ephesians 5 over and over but still find something new that they did not notice every time. The first half talks about how to walk in love while the second half talks about the biblical definition of a marriage relationship. Getting back to the first half, Paul repeatedly talks about how a Christian is to avoid sinful and shameful acts. One of the most amazing things that Paul reveals is what Christians must do instead. “Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is. And do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery, but be filled with the Spirit, addressing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody to the Lord with your heart, giving thanks always and for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, submitting to one another out of reverence for Christ” (Ephesians 5:17-21 ESV). The Word of God commands us to be filled with the Holy Spirit and sing various types of Christian songs to one another with the Lord in our heart. Of course, our primary focus when singing must be God. However, we must also sing to one another. When singing, we must have thankful hearts and submit to one another.
What does this all mean? One of the primary activities of Christians is to sing praises to God. In my opinion, I believe that singing praises to God is our primary function. When you really think about it, there will no longer be a need to evangelize to others once we enter heaven. However, once in heaven, we will continue to sing praises to Jesus for all eternity. Therefore, Paul makes it very clear that singing praises to God from here on earth is also a primary function of Christians. Christians must sing to God and each other. The types of songs that we sing are psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs. We must sing these songs with thanksgiving in our hearts. We must also submit to one another out of reverence for Christ. Submitting to one another includes submitting to the musical tastes of fellow Christians. To be clear, aside from lyrics, there is no such thing music that is inherently holy or evil. Musical tastes are purely subjective. One particular genre of music will not affect all people uniformly in the same way. For example, the sound of a Choir singing with piano music may be relaxing to some people. But to others, it may make them cringe in pain. Submitting to one another involves accepting other people’s spiritual songs as they accept ours. However, whatever those songs are whether they are to our liking or not, the Bible commands us to SING!!! Praise the Lord!!!
Thank You, Father, for today’s Word! You, and You alone, are worthy of our Praises! Thank You for allowing us Praise You. And thank You for teaching us today that a primary purpose of ours is to sing praises to You. Thank You for reminding us that although we may not always like the songs that we sing, we must have hearts of thanksgiving and sing to you anyways. Father, let Your Spirit have His way in us. Let those who do not like our music be open to that music. And Father, please have Your Spirit work in me so I too can learn to appreciate and sing the songs of others. Thank You, Father. We love You, Father. In Jesus’ Name we pray, amen.
