詩篇第二巻 57篇
「God is Faithful」
詩篇57篇は、56篇、59篇、60篇と同様に、ダビデの人生における出来事を取り上げた詩篇です。この詩篇では、ダビデがサウルから逃れる際に洞穴に隠れた出来事が言及されていることから、1サムエル記24章の出来事が背景にあると考える学者も多くいます。
表題に続いて、1節は「神よ、私を憐れんでください」（詩篇56：1、詩篇57：1）という詩篇56と同じ言葉で始まります。そしてダビデは、自分の魂の拠り所が神にあることを確信を持って宣言します。
しかし、最初の詩篇とは異なり、ダビデは「ヤハウェ」という名前を使っていません。その代わりに、ヘブライ語で神を表す 「エロヒム」という言葉で神を呼びます。そして、ダビデは、神が自分を守ってくださる方法として、母鶏が雛を翼の下で守るようなイメージを用いています。
またダビデは神について、1）神はダビデにご自分の目的を果たす、2）神は害をもたらす者を恥じさせる、3）神は天から真実な愛と真理を与えてくださる、という3つの非常に確信に満ちた発言をしています。
ダビデの周りには、他の人を食い尽くす獅子のような人たちがいます。しかし、神さまは、そのすべての人に勝る方です。敵は彼のために罠を仕掛けましたが、ダビデは確信を持って「彼らは自分の罠に陥る」と宣言します。ダビデは、「神よ、私の心は揺るぎません」（7節）と二回繰り返して、大胆に宣言しています。敵に囲まれていても、ダビデが主に向かって賛美を歌うのは、神への揺るぎない信頼があるからです。
ダビデは、1）楽器を持って、2）朝起きて、3）あらゆる国の人々の中で、神を歌い、賛美すると宣言します（7-9節）。さらにダビデは宣言します。1) 神の恵み天にまで及び、2) 神の真実は雲にまで及び、3) 神は天より高く、4) 神の栄光は全地であがめられる（10-11節）。
詩篇57篇には、実践的な内容が盛り込まれていますが、最も際立っているのは、私たちがどれだけ神を信頼できるかということです。アメリカでは、「一つのカゴにすべての卵を入れてはいけない」とよく言われます。なぜなら、世間の常識では、一つの人や物を完全に信頼することはできないと教えられているからです。世の中は、常にバックアッププランを持っていなければならないと教えています。
しかし、詩篇57篇は、私たちが本当に神にすべての信頼を置くことができることを教えています。私たちは自分のすべての卵を、神の誠実で愛に満ちた保護の翼の下に置くことができるのです。ダビデは、聖霊に触れられて「神よ、私の心は揺るぎません」（7節）と宣言しました。
私たちも、神にすべての信仰を置くことができます。敵に囲まれて洞窟に閉じ込められていても、ダビデは自分の悲惨な状況を心配したり、落ち込んだりするのではなく、大胆に神を賛美することにしたのです。
聖書には「明日は約束されていない」（箴言27:1 英語訳）とあります。確かに明日、目が覚める保障はありません。しかし、明日が約束されていなくても、世の終わりまで共にいることを約束してくださったイエスさまに全幅の信頼を置くことができます（マタイ28：20）。
天の父よ、感謝します。天よりも高いあなたの誠実な愛を感謝します。雲にまで及ぶほどの真実をありがとうございます。私たちを愛してくださり、独り子イエスを与えてくださったことを感謝します。明日が保障されているわけではありませんが、私たちはイエスさまによって永遠の命があることを信じています。私たちは、あなたにすべての信仰を置くことができます。困難が訪れても、心配せずに、大胆に賛美します。あなたは誠実な方なので、私たちはあなたに100％の信頼を置きます。父よ、ありがとうございます。私たちはあなたを愛しています。In Jesus Name we pray, Amen.
“God is Faithful”
Psalm 57 is part of the second set of psalms attributed to David. It is also a psalm, like psalms 56, 59, and 60, that covers an event in David’s life. Because this psalm mentions an event where David hid in a cave while escaping from Saul, many scholars believe that this event refers to the one in 1 Samuel 24. Following the introduction, the main section begins with the same words as Psalm 56: “Be merciful to me, O God” (Psalm 56:1; Psalm 57:1). David then confidently declares that it is in God that his soul takes refuge. Unlike the first set of Psalms, however, David does not use the name “Yahweh.” Instead, he calls on God by the Hebrew term for God “Elohim.” David then uses the imagery of what is likely a mother hen protecting her chicks under her wings as the manner in which God protects him. Next, David makes three very confident statements about God: 1) God fulfills His purpose in David, 2) God will put to shame those that bring harm, and 3) God will send from heaven His faithful love and truth. David is surrounded by men who were like lions who devour other men. However, God is greater than all of them. Although enemies laid traps for him, David confidently declares that they will fall in their own traps. David boldly declares, repeating twice: “My heart is confident, God, My heart is confident” (vv. 7). Although surrounded by enemies, David sings praises to the Lord because of his unwavering confidence in God. David declares that he will sing and praise God 1) with his musical instruments, 2) in the morning when he wakes up, 3) while among people from all nations (vv. 7-9). David declares: 1) God’s faithful love is as high as the heavens, 2) God’s faithfulness reaches the clouds, 3) God is exalted above the heavens, and 4) God’s glory is over the whole earth (vv. 10-11).
Although Psalm 57 is filled with practical applications, what stands out most is how much we can trust God. In America, we often say: “Do not place all of your eggs in one basket.” We say this because secular wisdom teaches us that we can never trust any single person or thing completely. The world teaches that we must always have a backup plan. Psalm 57, however, teaches us that we can indeed place all of our faith in God. We can place all of our eggs under the protection of God’s faithful, loving, and protective wings. David, inspired by the Holy Spirit, declared “My heart is confident, God, My heart is confident” (vv. 7). We can place all of our faith in God. Even when surrounded by enemies and trapped in a cave, instead of worrying or getting depressed about his dire situation, David decides to boldly sing praises to God. Scripture states that tomorrow is not promised (Proverbs 27:1). Indeed, we may not wake up tomorrow. However, even though tomorrow is not promised, we can place all of our faith in Jesus, who promised to be with us until the end of the age (Matthew 28:20).
Father in heaven, thank you. Thank you for your faithful love that is as high as the heavens. Thank you for your faithfulness that reaches the clouds. Thank you for loving us so much that You gave us Your one and only Son Jesus. Although tomorrow is not promised, we believe that we have eternal life through Jesus. We can place all of our faith in You. Even when trouble comes, we will not worry, but boldly sing praises to You! We will place 100% of our faith in You because you are faithful! Thank You Father. We love you Father. In Jesus Name we pray, amen.
