ルカの福音書8章
“Follow Jesus with Honest and Good Hearts”
ルカ8章には、様々な知識が様々な形で豊富に記されています。1節から3節で最も目立つのは、かつて7つの悪霊に取り憑かれていたマグダラのマリアの記述です。
4節から8節は、イエスの有名な種をまく人のたとえ話です。種を蒔く人のたとえでは、蒔いた種の行き先として、①人が踏んだり鳥が食べたりする道沿い、②種が枯れる岩の上、③窒息してしまういばらの中、④良い土の上、の４つを明らかにしています。
イエスは、9節から15節にかけて、その譬えの目的を明らかにされました。ここで、種は神のことばであることが分かります（11節）。道に落ちた種は、悪魔に奪われます。岩の上に落ちた種は根を張らず、枯れてしまいます。いばらの中に落ちた種は、人生の思い煩いや快楽、富によって窒息死してしまいます。神の言葉にとって唯一の良い土壌は、「彼らは、立派な良い心でみことばを聞いて、それをしっかり守り、忍耐して実を結びます。」（ルカ8：15抜粋、新改訳2017）です。
16節から18節には、神の国の経済学がいくつか示されています。神は、与えられた賜物を使う人には、より多くの賜物で報いてくださいます。同時に、使われない賜物は取り去られます。
21節では、イエスがご自分の家族だと本当に信じている人たちを明らかにしています。神の家族と見なされるためには、神の世界に従い、神が命じられたことを行わなければなりません。毎週日曜日に教会に来て神の御言葉を聞くことは、私たちがしなければならないことの一部分に過ぎません。神の家族の一員とみなされるためには、一週間の残りの期間も神が命じておられることを行わなければなりません。
私たちは、日曜日だけクリスチャンになることはできないのです。22節から25節は、イエスが私たちの人生の嵐を静めてくださるので、私たちはイエスを信じなければならないことを教えています。
26節から38節は、イエスが悪霊を追い出す権威も持っておられることを明らかにしています。39節は、イエスが、私たちが福音を広めることを望んでおられることを明らかにしています。40節から56節は、イエスが死者をよみがえらせ、癒すことがおできになることを明らかにしています。
ここで一歩下がって、ルカ8章の全体像を見てみましょう。私たちは、神のことばである父の種を「彼らは立派な良い心でみことばを聞いて、それをしっかり守り、忍耐して実を結びます。」のように受け入れることができるでしょうか。
イエスが嵐を静め、悪霊を追い出し、病人を癒し、死者をよみがえらせるのを目撃した人々の証言を信じることができるでしょうか？ マグダラのマリアのように、7つの悪霊に取りつかれた事がありながらもイエスに忠実に従い続け、イエスが死からよみがえったことを真っ先に信じることができるでしょうか？
私たちは、42節から48節にある、12年間出血が止まらなかった女性のような信仰を持つことができるのでしょうか？ この女性は12年間血を流し続けたので、ユダヤ人からは汚れた者とされ、追放されました。旧約聖書には、「女に漏出があり、漏出物がからだからの血であるなら、彼女は七日間、月のさわりの状態になる。だれでも彼女に触れる者は夕方まで汚れる。」（レビ記15：19）と書かれています。
この女性がしたことは、考えられないことでした。なぜなら、だれでも触れば儀式的に汚れた状態になるからです。汚れている時に故意に誰かに触れたら、女性は大きなトラブルに巻き込まれることになります。そのため、彼女はイエスの御前に震え、ひれ伏して、イエスに触れたことを認めたのです（ルカ8:48）。
自分が汚れていることを知りながらイエスに触れるには、大変な信仰が必要でした。また、イエスが尋ねたときに、自分がイエスに触れたことを告白するのも、大変な信仰が必要でした。イエスは誰が触ったか本当に知らなかったのでしょうか？ 私の考えでは、イエスは誰がご自身に触ったかを正確に知っておられると思います。
イエスは神であることを忘れないでください。エデンの園で神が尋ねられたことを思い出してください。アダムとエバに「どこにいるのか」と尋ねましたか？ もちろん、神は二人の居場所を知っています。しかしあえて尋ねたのは、その返答を得るためでした。ですから、この女性がイエスに触れて癒されようとした信仰と、イエスの問いかけに素直に応えたことで、イエスはこう言われたのでしょう。「イエスは彼女に言われた。「娘よ、あなたの信仰があなたを救ったのです。安心して行きなさい」（ルカ8：48）。
彼女の信仰が彼女を癒したのです。彼女の謙虚な告白が、イエスにこう言わせたのでしょう。「安心して行きなさい」。現実には、この女性のように、私たちは皆、罪によってとても汚されているのです。イエスは、私たちのこの恐ろしい罪という病を治すことができる唯一の方です。私たちがイエスに身体の癒しを求めるように、私たちも自分の罪を悔い改め、謙虚にイエスに近づかなければならないのです。
父なる神さま、今日の御言葉を感謝します。あなたの聖霊の働きによって、私たちの中に素直で良い心が準備され、あなたの御言葉を信じることができるようになったことを感謝します。
また、あなたが私たちをますますあなたの姿に近づけてくださったことを感謝します。また、私たちを癒してくださってありがとうございます。
そして、父なる神さま、私たちがあなたに謙虚に従い、従い続けるために、私たちに足りないすべての領域で助けてください。父なる神さま、ありがとうございます。父なる神さま、私たちは父なる神さまを愛しています。In Jesus’ Name we pray, amen.
Luke 8 contains a wealth of various knowledge in various forms. What stands out most in verses 1 through 3 is the original state of Mary Magdalene who was once possessed by seven demons. Verses 4 through 8 is Jesus’ famous parable of the sower. In His parable of the sower, Jesus reveals three destinations of sowed seed: 1) Along a path where people will step on the seeds or where birds will eat them, 2) on rocks where the seeds die, 3) among thorns where they get choked up, or 4) on good soil. Jesus reveals the purpose of His parables between verses 9 and 15. Here we learn that seeds are the Word of God (v. 11). Seeds dropped on the path are taken away from the devil. Seeds on the rock take no root and fall away. Seeds in the thorns are choked away by life’s cares, pleasures, and riches. The only good soil for the Word of God is “an honest and good heart, and that bears fruit with patience” (Luke 8:15). Verses 16 through 18 reveals some Kingdom of God economics. God will reward people who use their gifts with more gifts. At the same time, he will also take away gifts that are not used. In verse 21, Jesus reveals who he truly believe are his family. To be considered as part of God’s family, we must not obey God’s world and do what He commands us to do. Coming to church every Sunday to listen to God’s Word is just part of what we must do. To be considered as part of God’s family, we must also do what God commands us to do throughout the rest of the week. We cannot be Christians only on Sunday. Verses 22 through 25 teaches that we must have faith in Jesus because is can calm the storms in our lives. Verses 26 through 38 reveals that Jesus also has authority to cast out demons. Verse 39 reveals Jesus’ desire for us to spread His Gospel. Verses 40 through 56 reveals Jesus’ ability to raise the dead and heal.
Let us now step back and look at the big picture of Luke 8. Can we accept our Father’s seeds which is the Word of God into “an honest and good heart, and that bears fruit with patience” (Luke 8:15)? Can we believe the eye witness testimonies of those that witnessed Jesus calm the storm, cast out demons, heal the sick, and raise the dead? Can be continue to faithfully follow Jesus like Mary Magdalene who once had 7 demons in her but continued to follow him to the cross and be the first to believe that He also rose from the dead? Can we have the faith of that woman in verses 42 through 48 that could not stop bleeding for twelve years? Because this woman was bleeding for 12 years, she was considered to be unclean by the Jews and an outcast. The Old Testament writes: “When a woman has a discharge, and the discharge in her body is blood, she shall be in her menstrual impurity for seven days, and whoever touches her shall be unclean until the evening” (Leviticus 15:19). What the woman did was unthinkable because touching anybody would make them ceremonial unclean. Purposely touching anyone while unclean would get a woman into big big trouble. This is why she was trembling and fell down before Jesus when she admitted to touching him (Luke 8:48). It took a lot of faith to touch Jesus while knowing that she was unclean. It also took a lot of faith to confess that she touched Jesus when he asked. Did Jesus not really know who touched Him? It is my opinion that He know exactly who touched Him. Remember, Jesus is God. Remember in the Garden of Eden when God was asking: “Where are you” to Adam and Eve? Of course God know where they were. The purpose of asking was the get a response. Therefore, the faith that the woman had in touching Jesus to get healed and maybe also her honest and response to Jesus’s inquiry got Jesus to say: “Daughter, your faith has made you well; go in peace” (Luke 8:48). Her faith got her healed. Her humble confession to Jesus may contributed to Him saying: “go in peace.” The reality is, like this woman, we are all grotesquely polluted by our sin. Jesus in the only One who can cure us of this terrible disease. As we approach Jesus to heal us, we too must approach Jesus in all humility by the repenting of our sins.
Thank you, Father, for Your Word today. Thank you the work of Your Holy Spirit that prepared in us an honest and good heart so we could believe Your Word. Thank You also for all that You have done to make as more and more into Your image. Thank you also for healing us. And Father, please help us in all areas that we fall short in as we continue to humbly obey and follow You. Thank you Father. We love You Father. In Jesus’ Name we pray, amen.
