“God Kept His Promises”
創世記21章は、アブラハムの物語が続きます。1節から7節までは、アブラハムとサラの間に生まれた息子イサクについて書かれています。8節から21節までは、アブラハムの奴隷ハガルとその息子イシュマエルについて書かれています。
一歩下がって全体像を見ると、神がいかに約束を守るかというテーマが浮かび上がってきます。1節を見ると、サラがイサクを産んだことは、彼を大いなる国民とするという神の最初の約束の成就であることがよくわかります（創12：2、21：1）。
しかし、神がハガルとイシュマエルを守り、イシュマエルも国民の祖とされたのは、アブラハムに対する神の最初の約束の再確認であると同時に、イシュマエルもアブラハムの子としての地位を認めることになりました。
イサクが生まれたことは、神が約束を守る上で非常に重要なことでした。マタイによる福音書1章2節を見ると、イサクはアブラハムの次の世代で、やがて私たちの主イエス・キリストの誕生につながったことがわかります（マタイ1:16）。
イエスの誕生は、アブラハムの子孫であるイエスによって全世界が祝福されるという、創世記12章2節のアブラハムに対する神の約束の成就でありました。
イエスの死と復活によって、全世界が祝福されたのは、今、天の父の右に座っておられるイエスによって、私たちと天の父との関係が和解されたからです。
父なる神さま、今日の御言葉をありがとうございます。あなたは創造の神であり、救いの神です。あなたはいつも約束を守ってくださることを感謝します！
アブラハムとの約束を守ってくださり、アブラハムの子孫であるイエスさまによって、私たちは今、祝福されていることを感謝します。
父なる神さま、御子イエスを私たちの罪のために十字架で死なせてくださり、私たちがあなたとともに永遠に過ごすことができるようにしてくださったことを感謝します。
ありがとうございます、お父さん！ 私たちはあなたを愛しています、お父さん！ In Jesus’ Name we pray, amen!
Genesis 21 continues the narrative of Abraham. Verses 1 though 7 talks about the birth of Isaac, Abraham son between him and Sarah. Verses 8 through 21 talks about Abraham’s slave Hagar and their son Ishmael. If we step back and look at the big picture, we can see the theme of how God keeps His promises emerge. Verse one clearly shows that Sarah giving birth to Isaac was the fulfillment of God’s original promise to make him a great nation (Gen. 12:2; 21:1). But God protecting Hagar and Ishmael and making Ishmael too into a nation was not only a re-affirmation of God’s original promise to Abraham, that recognizes Ishmael’s place too as a son of Abraham.
Isaac being born was a very significant part of God keeping His promise. If we look at Matthew 1:2, we see that Isaac was the next generation after Abraham that eventually led to the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ (Matthew 1:16). Jesus’s birth was the fulfillment of God’s promise to Abraham in Genesis 12:2 as it is through Jesus, Abraham’s descendant, that the whole world is blessed. The whole earth is blessed through Jesus’ death and resurrection because through Him, Who now sits on the right hand of our Father in heaven, our relationship with our Father in heaven got reconciled.
Thank You, Father, for today’s Word. You are the God of Creation and the God of Salvation. Thank You for always keeping Your promises! Thank You for keeping Your promise to Abraham, as it is through Abraham’s offspring Jesus, that we are now blessed. Thank You Father for sending your Son Jesus to die on the Cross for our sins so we can now spend eternity with You. Thank You, Father! We love You, Father! In Jesus’ Name we pray, amen!
