“The Righteous Shall Live by Faith”

　今日は、いつもの聖書の釈義的な分析から離れ、証しを書こうと思います。というのも、ハバクク2章4節は、何年も前のことですが、私の人生においてとても困難な時に、神が私に語りかけてくださった聖句なのです。

　その日の朝、私は家族を教会に送り出し、近くの駐車場まで車を走らせたことを今でもはっきりと覚えています。車の中で、私は神に、なぜ家族が今まで働いてきたものをすべて失いそうになっているのか、と叫びました。

　私たちのビジネスは大失敗に見舞われ、苦労して手に入れた家も差し押さえられました。このとき、私たちは家を明け渡すまであと1週間もない状態でした。そこで私は神にお願いしました。「あなたが本物なら、あなたが本物であることを私に示してください！」と。

　このとき、神は私にビジョンを見せてくださいました。鹿、畑、山、そしてその山の上にある建物のビジョンが見えました。私はすぐに、そばにあった日記にこれらの絵を描きとめました。混乱した私は、次に神に尋ねました、「これは何を意味しているのですか？」すると、「Faith」という言葉が強く心に浮かびました。その時、「信仰（Faith）」という言葉が強く心に浮かびました。

　まだ混乱していた私は、持っていた聖書の後ろにあるミニ・コンコーダンスで「信仰」という言葉を調べました。すると、「ハバクク2章4節」と書かれていました。そこで、ハバクク2章4節を最後まで読みました。それでもまだ混乱していたので、ページをめくってハバクク3章まで読み進めました。ハバククの最後に、神の御言葉が語られました。

「畑には食べ物がなく、羊小屋には羊がなく、牛小屋には牛がないが、私は主にあって勝利し、私の救いの神にあって喜びます！私の主、ヤハウェは私の力であり、私の足を鹿のようにし、山の高さを歩けるようにしてくださる！　弦楽器による聖歌隊長のために。」（ハバクク3：17-19、HSCB）。

　私が見た畑、鹿、山というビジョンは、今、神の御言葉を通して私に示されたのです。神は、それまで何度も私を救ってくださったように、その日も私を救ってくださったのです。

　そして、私が駐車場で神に文句を言っている時に、教会のある家族が、山の上にある空き家を借りるようにと、私の家族に申し出てくれたのです。

　最近妻が、私がよく見落としていたこの御言葉の最後の言葉を指摘してくれました。「弦楽器の聖歌隊長のために」（ハバクク3:19）です。私のことをご存じない方のために説明しますと、現在の私の教会での働きは礼拝ディレクターです。私の好きな楽器は弦楽器で、ギターです。ギターを弾き始めたのは、あの山の上にあるアパートに引っ越してきてすぐのことでした。神の御言葉を読みながら、音楽のメロディーを聴くようになったのもこの頃です。神が私に与えてくれた最初の曲のタイトルは、『I Will Triumph in the Lord!』。そう、この歌は、ハバククを通して啓示された神の御言葉から生まれたのです。

　父なる神さま、今日の御言葉をありがとうございます。あなたがいつまでも変わらないのと同じように、あなたの御言葉もまた、昨日と同じように今日もあり、そして明日もあるのです。

　確かに、正しい者は信仰によって生きる、それは私たちの主イエス・キリストを信じる信仰です。そして、私たちは自分の自我によって生きるのではなく、私たちの主の義によって生きるのです。

　父なる神さま、イエスさまの義を信仰によって私たちに与えてくださることを感謝します。父なる神さま、私たちは信じます！

　私たちは、イエスが十字架上の贖いの御業によってこの世に打ち勝ったので、この勝利をすでに得ていると信じます。

　父なる神さま、ありがとうございます。父なる神さま、私たちはあなたを愛しています。In Jesus’ Name we pray, amen!

Today, I will take a break from my usual exegetical analysis of Scripture and write a testimony. I am writing this because Habakkuk 2:4 is the verse God used to speak to me at a very troubling time in my life many years ago. I still clearly remember dropping my family off at church in the morning and driving off to a nearby parking lot. As I sat in my car, I cried out to God, asking Him why my family was going through the process of seeming to lose everything we ever worked for. Our business experienced a catastrophic failure, and the home we had worked so hard for was foreclosed. At this time, we now had less than a week to vacate our home. So I asked God: “If You are real, show me that You are real!” This is when I believe God gave me a vision. I saw a vision of a deer, fields, a mountain, and a building on top of that mountain. I immediately drew these pictures in the journal that I had next to me. Confused, I then asked God: “What does this mean?” The word “Faith” then came strongly to me. Still confused, I looked up the word “faith” in the mini concordance in the back of the Bible I had with me. It pointed me to Habakkuk 2:4. Therefore, I started reading Habakkuk 2:4 until the end. Still confused, I flipped the page and continued reading on to Habakkuk 3. At the end of Habakkuk, God’s Word spoke: “… the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, yet I will triumph in the Lord, I will rejoice in the God of my salvation! Yahweh, my Lord is my strength, He makes my feet like those of a deer and enables me to walk on mountain heights! For the choir director on stringed instruments” (Habakkuk 3:17-19, HCSB). The vision that I saw, a field, deer, and mountain, was now presented to me through God’s Word. God saved me again that day as he saved me many times before and after this occasion. I must also share that while I was complaining to God in the parking lot, a family at church offered my family to rent their vacant apartment that was on top of a mountain. This explained the building on top of that mountain. Recently, my wife pointed out the final words in the verse that I often overlooked: “For the choir director on stringed instruments” (Habakkuk 3:19). For those who do not know me, my current position at church is worship director. My preferred instrument is a stringed instrument: the guitar. I started playing the guitar soon after moving to the apartment on the top of that mountain. It was also at this time that I started to hear musical melodies while reading God’s Word. The first song that God gave me is titled: “I Will Triumph in the Lord!” And yes, this song came from God’s Word, as revealed through Habakkuk.

Thank You, Father, for today’s Word. Just like You, Your Word is also the same today as it was yesterday, and so it will be tomorrow. Indeed, the righteous shall live by faith, and it is faith in our Lord Jesus Christ. And we do not live by our own self-righteousness, but the righteousness of our Lord. Thank You, Father, for making Jesus’ righteousness available to us through faith. Father, we believe! We believe that we have already received this victory because Jesus overcame this world through His redeeming work on the Cross. Thank You, Father. We love You, Father. In Jesus’ Name, we pray, amen!
